Selected outcomes

Award-winning national disability conference

During the 2021 disability workforce shortage, I was asked to help develop a national virtual conference on cultivating Australia’s disability workforce. I immersed myself in the research, secured respected speakers and helped shape a program that explored the challenge from multiple perspectives. The conference received the Best Nonprofit Virtual Conference Award.

Building trust during the Global Financial Crisis

During the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, I ghostwrote the CEO blog for a credit union, explaining in plain language Australia’s strong banking regulations and why their savings remained secure. The blog became a vehicle to clearly delineate the differences between mutual banks and the ‘big four’. Clear, timely communication strengthened trust with members and helped calm uncertainty within the organisation during this volatile period.

Finding clarity in organisational purpose

An international medical society had a page-long purpose statement that staff found difficult to communicate, contributing to low morale, lack of perceived alignment, and inconsistent messaging. I distilled it into a clear one-sentence vision and mission that gave staff confidence to tell the organisation’s story and strengthened internal alignment.

Annual reports delivered with precision

I edited, designed, and delivered nine annual reports for three organisations, combining statutory reporting with engaging storytelling and publication design. Every report was delivered on time and on budget while presenting complex information with clarity and professionalism. Infographics and visual elements were created in Adobe CS so readers could understand the data at a glance.

Shaping advocacy that influenced national conversations

I co-drafted a keynote address for a board president speaking before national political leaders, reframing the NDIS as an investment rather than a cost. The speech highlighted evidence that every dollar invested generated $2.25 in economic return, helping strengthen the sector’s advocacy.

Rebranding for record growth

As part of a strategic rebrand for a member-owned bank, I helped redefine its positioning, served as its brand voice, and developed creative campaign strategies. The renewed brand contributed to the organisation achieving the most profitable year in its history.

A campaign that increased sales tenfold

Tasked with increasing sales of a specialised medical product, I developed a multi-stakeholder campaign that united different audiences through one compelling campaign idea while tailoring the benefits for each group. During the campaign, product sales grew by 1,000 percent.

Big Picture Strategy & Intention

This strategic marketing framework was developed over years of working with small-business clients. In one or two focused strategy sessions, businesses understand their market, assess the external forces shaping their industry, analyse competitors, identify their ideal customers, and create detailed customer personas.

The process was captured in Big Picture Strategy, a practical handbook. It was then extended to Intention, which shows how a strong marketing strategy can become the foundation for building a meaningful brand. Spoiler: a brand is not a logo.

How I work

Good communication starts with listening.

I enjoy untangling complex problems, understanding the audience, and finding the clearest way to tell the story. That means listening first, then researching.

Whether it’s a patient information sheet, a campaign, an annual report, or a feature article, the aim is always the same: help people understand something that matters.
